Viva Las Vegas - LOCATIONS

Sunday is "Location Day"

After a day of shooting at the Sinatra House, Sunday is dedicated to outdoor sets, shooting at diverse and inspiring locations of their choice in, and around Las Vegas, proper.

Early Sunday morning the participants break into groups of one photographer and two models, and set out for their morning sessions. After four hours, everyone meets back at the host hotel and after a lunch break, models are exchanged between photographers for afternoon sessions, from 1:00pm, to as late the groups wish to go.

Where will they shoot? Las Vegas is one of the most photogenic urban landscapes in the world. In the downtown alone, there are dozens of great locations that feature open skies, mountains, deserts, and the amazing Vegas skyline as backdrops. And don't forget Fremont Street and its amazing neon facades, and a host of urban "architecture".

Venture out of the city limits, even just a few miles, and natural wonders abound. Fom the famous Red Rocks, to the stark, Jean Dry Lake Bed, and the lessor known, yet stunningly beautiful and diverse Spring Mountain Lake State Park. Or the teams may decide to visit the incredibly beautiful Lake Mead. All of these locations, and virtually hundreds more, equally as unique can be found within about 30 minutes of the host hotel.

Old Las Vegas, Freemont Street

There was once a Las Vegas far different from today's. Freemont Street is a time machine that instantly transports you back to the days when Frank, Sammy, Jerry and Dean were Vegas royalty, and neon lit the night for a hundred miles.  Freemont Street is "Old Las Vegas", kitschy, bold, crass, and wonderful. Your camera will scream for more, from the impossibly lit casino facades, to the overhead neon extravaganza of "The Freemont Street Experience".

Lake Mead

Hundreds of grassy, sandy, and rocky shorelines, some accessable by road, and hundreds more private coves on the longest shoreline of any man-made lake in America, can be reached easily in a rented boat.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

This gem is only a few minutes south of Red Rocks, and offers a diverse set of backdrops including, a beautiful lake, desert scapes, mountains, even green meadows.

Red Rocks State Park

A photographic landmark since the days it served as a movie set for the great westerns of the 1930s and '40s.

The rock formations offer a never ending source of great sets.

The Jean Dry Lake Bed

Just 30 minutes south of the Strip, only 1/2 mile off of I-15 is this photographic treasure. The drama and starkness of the dry lake bed is perfect for anything from faux fashion, to artistic nude genres.

Las Vegas Blvd, "The Strip"

One of the most identifiable, and striking cityscapes in the world, the Las Vegas "Strip" is as  iconic as it is beautiful. The nearly two miles of spectacular vistas is a photographers' delight, especially with an equally fantastic model in the foreground.

Could also be great for an off-hours shoot.
